Vong's Thai Cuisine is a full-service restaurant that brings a layered Southeast Asian dining experience to Pittsfield’s downtown at 157 Seymour St. Its setting balances casual comfort with a hint of cozy familiarity, making it a steady spot for locals looking to enjoy authentic flavors without pretense. The interior hums quietly during weekday lunches and livens up in the evenings with families and small groups settling in for satisfying, flavor-packed meals.

The menu spans Thai and Vietnamese staples, catering especially well to those who appreciate balanced spice levels and fresh ingredients. Popular dishes like pad gaprow—a classic Thai street food with ground meat and Thai basil—and the popular drunken noodles showcase the kitchen’s skill with bold, well-seasoned fare. The wide, fresh noodles in the drunken noodles stand out as a detail that sets the food apart from typical takeout options around town.

Vong’s also shines in its noodle soups, with options from a lighter pho to spicy tom yum, capturing the warmth and complexity that Southeast Asian broths are known for. The serving sizes lean toward generous, meeting the expectations of diners who want strong flavors alongside hearty portions that can easily stretch to another meal.

Many locals have found Vong’s to be a reliable takeout choice for years, especially appreciating the consistency of family favorites like their Vietnamese spring rolls and the house fried rice cooked just right—not greasy but well-rounded with sesame notes. The place also welcomes diners back through doorstep or sit-down experiences, offering a spot to decompress and savor a meal that’s thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed.

For visitors new to the area or Pittsfield regulars, the best time to visit is early evening when the kitchen is lively but the dining room isn’t packed to the brim, creating a welcoming buzz. The approachable vibe makes it a sensible choice for those quietly craving rich Panang curry, chicken satay, or even a surprising standout like coconut shrimp soup—a dish noted by patrons for its delicate curry and fresh shrimp balance.

Overall, Vong's Thai Cuisine seems best suited for diners who want to explore authentic Thai and Vietnamese flavors in a straightforward, unfussy environment. Whether you’re swinging by for a relaxed dinner or picking up takeout to enjoy at home, it’s the kind of spot where locals come back again and again for comfort, generous portions, and a reassuringly consistent menu.

Vong’s has been on our regular takeout rotation for years. The Tom Yum noodle soup is to die for and is enough for two or for lunch the next day. We haven’t yet ordered anything on the menu that wasn’t delicious, and we get the Vietnamese spring rolls with every order—they’re impossible to resist.

I used to live right next door to Vong’s- I’d get take out at least once a week and never got sick of it. Since I’ve moved, I’ll still drive almost an hour just to get it. Their pad thai is the best I’ve ever had, and their drunken noodles are the super wide flat noodles (you can tell they’re fresh). Very large portions too. So happy that they’re doing dine in again!

wow!! this place is so delicious. My boyfriend and I were out of town for the weekend and we heard good things about this Thai food place. I have to say this was the best Thai food I have ever tried and we are from the Long Island NY area. Super fresh, lots of flavor and so delicious . My boyfriend had the chicken pad Thai, I had the pad see ew and we also had the Vietnamese spring rolls as an app. 10/10 RECOMMEND!

Phenomenal food, and an absolute must if youre in Pittsfield. They have good Pho, good enough to stand up to the Pho in Boston; their fried rice is a more balanced flavor, not greasy, with a pleasant amount of sesame oil. Great cook on the rice, too. Their fried chicken fried rice is a fantastic choice and I highly recommend it. Everything we've gotten on the menu has been good, and with a lunch special available through Saturday, we will find ourselves here often. The servers are friendly, but provide you your space, and regularly fill your water cup.

Oh my goodness,… the best coconut shrimp soup I have ever had! One of a kind, custom creation. If you like a pinch of curry with a perfect blend of coconut and shrimp, this is a must on your order. Next, Panang Curry. We asked if we could get it mild and the chef, probably the mom, mixed it perfectly for us. Highly recommend you treat yourself to a delicious meal.

My first time eating here and everything was perfect except for my main course. I got the pad Thai with chicken, no shrimp. The appetizers were great and so was the soup “Tom Kar” it was a coconut based. I’ve ordered pad Thai at 2 other restaurants before and one time I ordered it with beef and the beef tasted weird. Like it was way past its prime so the next time I had it with chicken and the chicken tasted off too. Maybe it’s the way it was cooked but I told myself next time I have it I will have it with just veggies. This time when I ordered it at this restaurant they had shrimp or chicken as an option and since I don’t eat shrimp I chose chicken, even though I had planned on just asking for a veggie dish I decided to take a chance on it. Unfortunately, the chicken tasted off to me again, kinda metallic so I wasn’t pleased but it wasn’t awful. I took it to go, Since I was full anyway and I assumed what are the chances it’s bad meat for the third time. Maybe that’s just how it’s supposed to taste but I wasn’t impressed. All in all it was a good experience so that’s why the 4 star rating but next time I guess I really will just have it with just veggies.
